About the position
The National Council of SPCAs based in Gauteng, is looking to appoint a well-experienced, Senior Manager for the Wildlife Protection Unit. . It is required that you will have successfully completed the National Inspector's and/or Seniors examination and it is preferable to have a suitable qualification such as a Degree or Diploma in Nature Conservation, Wildlife Management or related fields. The successful candidate will have sound experience in a management position with appropriate expertise in the field of animal welfare. The main aim of the role is to develop and grow the Wildlife Protection Unit to benefit all wildlife in captivity or semi-extensive and extensive managed wildlife reserves. This will include setting goals and objectives for the NSPCA Wildlife Protection Unit, in line with the overall targets of the organisation and to ensure that all are completed in order to achieve the annual unit and organisational objectives. Alsoi it will include identifying trends in trades as well as direction where the Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF) and/or the Department of Agriculture, Land reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) may be heading that will impact animal welfare in any way, shape or form. The emphasis is also on adherence to company policies, standards and procedures relating to all administrative and operational functions including social media contributions of the Unit.
