About the position

Our client in the telecommunication industry is hiring for a Operations Maintenance Performance Manager for an Independent Contractor for a 12-month contract to be based in Bryanston, Johannesburg.


Working Modul: Hybrid 


Role purpose:


To oversee maintenance and upgrading of Network infrastructure in accordance with company specifications, building and civil standards and OPEX budget.


  • 3 or more years relevant experience (Essential)

  • Extensive Project Management / co-ordination experience (Essential)

  • Construction regulations (Desirable)

  • 1-2 years working with property/base stations (Desirable)

  • Electrical and/or Mechanical Specifications (Desirable)

  • GSM experience (Desirable)

  • Air Conditioning (Desirable)

  • Understanding of basic telecommunications principles

  • Understanding of basic business principles

  • Legislation, i.e. Health and Safety Act

  • Understanding of geographical maps

  • Policies and procedures


  • To oversee the end-to-end maintenance of all passive base station infrastructure of the region.

  • To co-ordinate upgrades of the existing infrastructure

  • To ensure that OPEX budgets are adhered to, and relevant quotations are analysed in terms of company specifications.

  • To maintain a good working relationship with contractors/subcontractors to ensure high quality of relevant outputs needed.

  • To provide information/reports regarding the progress of upgrade; preventive/corrective maintenance projects to all the relevant parties

  • To ensure guidance and performance of vendors as per contract deliverables.

  • Maintain proficiency in documenting processes and monitoring performance metrics for the NOC, Field Operations and Power Sections

  • Set performance targets, measure, and monitor progress and performance of Maintenance vendors and other Vendors against agreed SLAs, Quality and Performance Management Criteria.

  • Monitor and manage the performance of the passive infrastructure using best business processes and practices to deliver uptime to all clients on the network.

  • Coordinate compilation and distribution of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly Performance reports for use by Internal Operations Team, Management and Tenants, capturing Performance Trends against the KPIs.

  • Prepare timely and accurate Management Reports and Dashboards highlighting analysis of Key Performance Indicators and Trends and provide management with Reactive and Proactive Intelligence.

  • Prepare root cause analysis report and share with different stake holders to close gaps.

  • Develop collate periodic and ad hoc performance reports.

  • Define implement the record management system (hard soft copy) for the NOC and Operations team.


  • Must have technical / professional qualifications

  • Relevant Electrical and/or Mechanical and/or Facilities and /or Construction Management - 3 year Degree / Diploma (BSc, B.Tech, S4, N6, T3) (Essential)

  • Project management (Desirable)

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in contractor’s supervision in operations.

  • At least 5+ years in contractor and vendor management

  • At least 5+ years’ experience in power designing and optimization.

  • At least 3+ years’ experience in RMS site monitoring systems

  • At least 3+ years’ experience in managing of latest Power technologies like LIB, Delta, Eltek, Vertiv, Huawei, ZXD, Flex enclosure, GAVE, Actura and Netsure, Emmerson BC83
